As soon as you receive your member id you can register and create a profile for OptumRx. Once you have created a profile you can then start entering your prescriptions either by:

Or physician. Have your physician’s office call 1-800-791-7658 with your prescriptions, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. CT, Monday–Friday, excluding certain holidays, TTY 711 or fax them to 1-800-491-7997 24 hours 7 days a week.

How long will it take from the time you send in your application to the time you should receive your prescription?

Answer: It should take around 10 days for everything to go through.

If I send my application through the mail do I have to fill out a different form for each medication.

Answer: Yes, you will need to fill out a separate form for each medication you take. Here is the form you will need to fill out (FORM)

How often will I have to refill my prescription?

Answer: The prescriptions for each prescribed medicine will NOT be automatically filled. OptumRx provides a 90 day supply of your prescription and will send out a “courtesy call” to remind you of your refill. Or you can log on to your account through OptumRx and see when you should order your medication. If for some reason you forget to order your prescriptions you can pay $12.50 for next day shipping.

Can my prescriptions through OptumRx be shipped to a different location for a certain period of time?

Answer: Yes, if you were going to be out of town for a certain time you can get your prescriptions shipped to a different location for that time.

If I have had mail order prescriptions from another company ex, express scripts or medco, do they transfer over?

Answer: No, you will need to start from the beginning.
