Open Enrollment

You may find yourself enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Part C HMO/PPO plan that doesn’t have your preferred doctor(s) or doesn’t include your medications at the most competitive price for 2023.  Perhaps you missed the 12/7 Annual Enrollment Period deadline to make a change to your current Medicare Advantage Part C plan. Either way you have some relief and a safety net to make a change to a new plan.

From January 1 to March 31, if you find your advantage Part C HMO or PPO is inadequate, you have a special Open Enrollment Period to make a one time change.

Congress enacted the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period that runs from January 1st – March 31st each year to protect Medicare Beneficiaries from enrolling in the wrong Part C Medicare Advantage plan.

During the 2023 Open Enrollment Period, you can make:

1.  A one time change from your current Medicare Advantage Part C HMO/PPO to a new Medicare Advantage Part C HMO/PPO or

2. You can disenroll from any Medicare Advantage Part C plan and return to Original Medicare. You will be allowed to add a standalone Part D drug plan but must pass medical underwriting to get approved by your medicare Supplement/Medigap plan. Remember, the Medigap/Supplement carriers will ask health questions and will accept or deny you based on the answers to these health questions.
